    Description

    Performance The Extreme is the highest-output LED turn signal on the market, reaching 1000LM white and 1400LM amber per bulb. It is not cheap, and it is not cheaply made. The V6 Extreme is for the lighting enthusiast who demands the finest quality and performance; boy, does it deliver.

    Radial Lens As if the Extreme wasn't extreme enough, we decided to kick it up a notch. The original lens is not terrible by any means; we just saw an opportunity for even more output and ran with it. The ultimate goal when developing an LED replacement is to simulate the characteristics of the filament bulb. Not only does the Extreme have insane lumen levels, but all that power has been harnessed to fire perfectly in the lamp housing reflector. Combined with the two-position adjustable feature, this produces an intensity like no other LED on the market.

    WHAT COLOR TEMPERATURE SHOULD I GET?

    Because both 5K and 6K perform extremely well, it ultimately comes down to personal preference. We generally recommend matching to your existing VLEDS products you have already installed. 6K offers a more luxurious or high-end look, whereas 5K offers a more OE factory look. 5K is pure white (best match to factory LED parking and DRL lights), and 6K is white with a tint of blue.

    V6 EXTREME SWITCHBACK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

    ESTIMATED TIME TO INSTALL

    INSTALLATION GUIDE

    1. Unpack all parts and familiarize yourself with the various components.

    2. Connect the base adapter to the V6 Extreme Switchback Controller.

    3. Connect the V6 bulb to the V6 Extreme Switchback Controller.

    4. Look at the backside of the housing that the bulb is going into and determine the position and quantity of screws required.

    5. Install the supplied spacer ring onto the V6 Extreme bulb. Adding the spacer moves the bulb back into the housing. Test one side with and the other without to find the best output.

    6. For 7440/7443 applications: Install screws and tighten flush with the body. Do not overtighten.

    7. For 7440/7443 applications: Install the small sealing gasket over the bulb as shown.

    8. For 1157/1156 & 3156/3157 applications: The adapter collar is required for these base types. Line up the holes and loosely install the screws. Once all screws are installed, tighten until flush with the collar. Do not over tighten.

    9. For 1157/1156 & 3156/3157 applications: Install the large gasket over the bulb as shown.

    10.  Twist and turn bulb into housing. Some force may be required. Adjustment of the screw pattern may also be needed if the bulb does not fit the keyhole pattern.

    11. To verify polarity of the socket, turn on the parking or hazard lights and install the socket until the bulb turns on. Test all functionality. If the bulb does not work, flip the base adapter 180 degrees.

    12. Apply dielectric grease to the contacts of the socket and slide the heat shrink over the adapter. Using a heat gun or torch, shrink the heat shrink over the base adapter and socket.  Skip this for interior applications.

    13. If hyperflash fix resistors were included with your kit, plug the VLR into the 2-pin wire on the base adapter.

    14. Apply the provided high-temp mounting tape to back of the resistor. Find a clean metal surface and mount the resistor. Press firmly for about 30 seconds. Make sure no plastic or wiring is touching the resistor body.

    15. If you would like the white LEDs to remain dim when the headlights are on, remove the white vinyl cap and plug in the dim wire. This will allow the white LEDs to dim down to 10% output with the headlights on. (See step 17 for wiring guide on dim wire)

    16. If you want the amber LEDs to remain dim when the headlights are on, remove the black vinyl cap and plug in the dim wire. This will enable the amber parking light function when the headlights are on. (See step 17 for wiring guide on dim wire)

    17. Wiring for dim wire: Determine the positive 12V wire for the low beam headlight. Use the supplied tap to splice into the wire. You may need to strip some insulation to fit dimming wire into the tap. Skip this step if using the plug-n-play dim harness.

    18. Before reassembling, make sure the entire system works properly with the engine running.  If the VLR resistors were installed, confirm there is no hyperflash.
